The British Beauty Council is preparing to launch its inaugural British Beauty Festival in China, strengthening opportunities for UK brands seeking a foothold in the country.
Set to run from mid-April to mid-May 2026, the initiative aims to spotlight the innovation and heritage of British beauty brands on the global stage.
This will be achieved through a ‘trifecta partnership’, centred on uniting high-level government support, official industry endorsement and proven commercial viability.
The Festival is directly inspired by British Beauty Week’s tremendous growth in recent years, Millie Kendall, CEO of the British Beauty Council, told Cosmetics Business.
The annual event, which took place in October last year, celebrates the UK beauty industry’s innovation, sustainability, and economic impact.
But British Beauty Week has been making more of an impact globally, said Kendall, which has been strengthened by the Council’s partnership with luxury Hong Kong beauty retailer Joyce Beauty.
“That partnership has become an important part of the strategy,” added Kendall.
“We have worked with the China team at the Department for Business and Trade on events here in the UK and there is mutual trust.
“And most importantly when China opened up to us there were still distribution challenges, and we needed time to acquaint ourselves with how to operate there.”
The Cosmetics Business Innovation Awards aim to recognise breakthroughs across the entire beauty supply chain, from raw materials to logistics. With transparent judging and expert commentary, the programme offers rare insight into what true innovation looks like today. Entries open now!
