Although some may argue that the sun care category is saturated, there are new brands – and fresh category entrants from big hitters – in this arena this year that have got the Cosmetics Business team talking, and dare I say, excited.

From SPF launches that harness new advanced peptide complexes, to those that are supporting microbiome balance and delivering world-building in smart ways, the brands below are catching our eye, and consumers, and for good reason. 

And on top of these formulas bridging the skin care-sun care bridge in smart ways, the effective protection provided has also been explored, especially the offering for those with sensitised skin.

“Despite having been founded in 2018, Italian sun care brand Darling is starting to make real waves in the UK this year, following a soft launch in 2025, and I can see it shaking up the market in more ways than one.

The brand’s latest launch, Cloud Drop SPF 50, is leading the charge – a dermatologically tested ultra-fluid, skin care-first daily moisturiser for sensitive skin, which is combined with next-generation UV filters to deliver broad-spectrum protection and blue light defence.

But skin barrier support is also key, which is why I love this brand so much. 

The formula comprises seven molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, ectoin and niacinamide to hydrate, plump and soothe; while biotech beta-glucan and α-glucan (prebiotic) helps fortify the skin barrier and support microbiome balance, making it so much more than just a decent sunscreen.
