Beiersdorf profits drop but market share improves
The German producer of the Nivea range, Beiersdorf AG, was able to improve sales in Q3. Group chairman, Thomas Quaas, said that as in earlier quarters the Nivea and Eucerin brands were able to increase market share globally though business by the La Prairie group in the luxury products segment was still down compared with last year.

Group net profits in Q3 this year fell 9.3% to €98m with pre-tax earnings down 6.5% at €144m. Sales in the quarter dipped 3% to €1.4bn. Group business growth came largely from the cosmetics brands with sales up in both Germany and the emerging markets of China, Brazil and the rest of Latin America. The company says it expects cosmetics to generate a margin of around 11% for the year as a whole.
