A Japanese study has proved that aromatherapy fragrant oils really do decrease stress levels. University of Tokyo research published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food found linalool, a chemical compound found in teas, oranges, tomatoes and basil, returned stress-elevated levels of neutrophils and lymphocytes, key parts of the immune system to near-normal levels.
