Upcycling remains a cosmetic ingredient mega-trend with Japan’s Seiwa Kasei turning to sesame oil production for its latest skin care ingredient and The Upcycled Beauty Company adding hummus-inspired hair care active Faba TONIQ to its line-up.
These and other new launches from the past few weeks are rounded-up below.
1. Seiwa Kasei, Sesaqua
A new raw material for skin care, Seiwa Kasei’s Sesaqua is an upcycled ingredient using pomace from the manufacture of sesame oil.
The sesame protein extracted from this food waste product is said to offer a superior moisturising and brightening effect by boosting collagen production and inhibiting melanin production.
