Whether it’s curling hair with an aluminium can or sharing budget hair hacks to help save money, TikTok content and hair care trends have become closely entwined.
The result has culminated in the hugely popular hashtag #hairtok, which is currently trending at a staggering 33 billion views.
“Hair care tends to do well on TikTok because it’s very visual, very easy to illustrate and very desirable to women. In our experience of working with brands, this category tends to outperform skin care on TikTok,” says Tash Courtenay-Smith, co-founder and CEO of D2C brand strategy and growth agency Bolt Digital.
