US cosmetics retailer Ulta Beauty has elected Heidi G Petz to its board of directors, effective 16 December.
Petz is President and Chief Operating Officer of The Sherwin-Williams Company, which operates in paint and coating manufacturing.
Petz boasts more than 25 years of professional, commercial, retail and leadership experience.
She joined Sherwin-Williams when the company acquired The Valspar Corporation in 2017.
Prior to joining Valspar, Petz held various leadership roles with Newell Rubbermaid, Target Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
With the addition of Petz, the Ulta Beauty board now consists of 11 members, 55% of whom are women.
Further, 36% of the board are racially diverse and 55% joined within the last five years.
“We are excited to welcome Heidi to the Ulta Beauty family and are confident her broad leadership experience, operational expertise and consumer focus will result in valuable contributions to our Board,” said Dave Kimbell, Ulta’s CEO.
“We continue to benefit from the depth and breadth of experiences and diverse perspectives of our board of directors as they guide our ongoing work to shape how the world sees and experiences beauty.”
Ulta Beauty has been recognised by Equilar, a provider of corporate leadership data solutions, as being one of a handful of US-based beauty players where women take up at least 50% of board seats, alongside e.l.f. Cosmetics, Coty and Sally Beauty.
Petz’s election to the Ulta Beauty board follows two 2022 additions: Kelly E Garcia, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Domino’s Pizza; and Gisel Ruiz, former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Sam’s Club Division of Walmart, who joined the board in February.
