Hair loss remains one of the most prevalent and distressing beauty concerns in the modern beauty industry.
But a boom in innovation and products is attempting to curb these numbers and provide people with both follicles and, ultimately, restore their confidence.
Here is how the beauty industry is fighting hair loss in 2025.
A bad hair day: why hair loss is effecting younger people
There is a common misconception that hair loss only affects us more as we get older, but an increasingly younger demographic is struggling with the condition.
Almost half (47%) of those who reported noticeable hair loss were aged between 18-34 years, according to data from British trichological hair and scalp care brand Philip Kingsley.
Some 91% of the same age group had also experienced the highest incidence of hair shedding in the last 12 months.
Around 61% of those surveyed said hair loss negatively affected their self-esteem, and 57% said hair loss influences how they wear their hair.
But why is hair loss becoming more prevalent among the youth today?
Gustav Fouche, a hair and scalp health expert and stylist based in London, UK, tells Cosmetics Business the hair loss industry is booming right now because many people are “simply not feeding their bodies properly”.
