Non-profit organisation The Fragrance Foundation UK has appointed Facebook’s Head of Retail and E-commerce to its Board of Directors.

Beth Horn’s role with the social media giant included managing its relationships with retail and e-commerce companies in the UK, specifically in beauty, department stores and on the high street.

Prior to joining Facebook nine years ago, Horn managed teams at HMG Search Marketing and Efficient Frontier.

Her break into retail came after joining US retail giant Macy’s in 2003.

“I’m honoured to join this wonderful organisation, helping to raise the profile of this inspiring and impactful history,” said Horn.

“Fragrance sparks joy, and so being given the chance to educate and develop talent, to highlight the impact of this sector to the UK economy, and to recognise the incredible work done, all made me delighted to join the Board.

“Fragrance is a time machine, an expression of identity, a mood. It’s enormously powerful, with the ability to transport, to elevate, to make us feel. Few things carry so much power.”

In her new role, Horn joins industry leaders from Coty, Harrods, Shiseido, The Perfume Shop and International Flavors & Fragrances.

Linda Key Jackson, The Fragrance Foundation’s CEO added: “We are delighted and honoured to have Beth join our Board, Beth’s understanding of the retail sector and expertise in driving business growth will be a valued addition to our already experienced and dedicated Board of Directors.”

The organisation was established in New York, US, by Chanel, Coty, Elizabeth Arden, Guerlain and Helena Rubinstein in 1949.

To date, The Fragrance Foundation has more than 150 members, including manufacturers, retailers and media.

According to the company, the fragrance industry contributed £7.1bn to the UK economy in 2018.
