Five new fragrances created by founder and Artistic Director Basel Binjabr who fuses Eastern opulence with Western refinement

Luxury fine fragrance brand Thameen is due to launch a collection of five fragrances for autumn/winter, which are inspired by legendary gemstones.

The five fragrances include: Peacock Throne, Moon of Baroda, Amber Room, Noorolain Taif and Carved Oud, and each scent is named after an opulent jewel. Peacock Throne takes inspiration from the throne created for the Mughal Emperors of India in the early 17th century, which disappeared in 1747. It opens with notes of jasmine, Egyptian oris and pink pepper pearls, before moving to a heart of Taif rose and a base of patchouli, vetiver and vanilla.

Meanwhile Noorolain Taif is influenced by the Noor-ol-Ain diamond, which was mounted in a tiara of the same name for the Iranian Empress Farah Pahlavi’s wedding to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1958. The scent contains top notes of baie rose pink peppers, coriander and black pepper; heart notes of Taif rose, jasmine and Turkish rose; and a base of agarwood, amber and cashmere wood.

At the other end of the fragrance spectrum is Carved Oud, which is inspired by the temple designs and decorations of a perfect carved Indian goddess. Indian royalty were considered somewhere between man and god, with royal women undertaking a 16-step ritual to prepare for public appearance, called Solah Shringar. The scent contains oud from the south of India, a heart of cedarwood and guaiac and a base of patchouli and musk.

The collection is due to launch into Selfridges in August with prices ranging from £125-£175.
