The transition toward talc-free innovation sounds like it should be a simple journey, as talc is a single raw material, but it has been the backbone of many formulations since it was first used commercially in the early 1900s.

Talc is a naturally occurring mineral that has many uses in cosmetics and other personal care products.

Mintel commented back in March 2016 that “talc is poised for a personal care phase-out” due to the issues being raised in the US lawsuits which we now see replicated across Europe.

These concerns and awareness have grown globally so formulators and the end consumers are looking for new options.
