Space NK temporarily suspends US orders amid Trump’s tariff headache

The pause in shopping follows US President Donald Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ taxes in April 2025, which has sent global markets into turmoil

Space NK has temporarily suspended orders to the US as it navigates US President Donald Trump’s tax hikes

A message was sent to US-based customers informing them of the situation, which has been confirmed to be true by the UK beauty retailer in an email seen by Cosmetics Business

The email read: “We are making some changes to how we serve US customers.

“As we adapt to the latest US tariff regulations, we have decided to pause e-commerce orders and shipping to the US to avoid additional or incorrect costs being applied to our customers’ orders.

“Thank you for understanding.”

Space NK has not confirmed how long this temporary pause will last.

Trump’s so-called ‘Liberation Day’ taxes came into effect in April 2025, imposing a 10% tariff on all countries and higher hikes on others.

A 90-day pause on taxes on certain goods has since been announced, but the result has already created market anxiety and a spike in costs for beauty products.

Procter & Gamble (P&G), the consumer goods giant behind Olay and Head & Shoulders, became the latest business to warn of “likely” price hikes as a result of the tariffs.

Givaudan has also warned that it will increase its prices despite reporting a better-than-expected boost to sales during Q1 2025.

Cosmetics Business has reached out to Space NK for a comment.
