Singing sensation Rihanna has shocked consumers with the surprise launch of a Fenty Beauty fragrance.
The Barbadian phenomenon sparked rumours that her brand could be eyeing the hair care space earlier this year, however, fans can expect a debut edp from her LVMH-backed company ahead of her suspected hair care venture.
Full details of the new Fenty Parfum have not been released, however teaser videos via the group’s instagram, @FentyBeauty, reveal that the fragrance is a combination of “magnolia, vibrant fruit and warm spice”.
To appeal to its male and female followers, the product has also been developed as unisex.
For the outer packaging, the Umbrella singer has opted for a bright blue, while the fragrance is housed in an apothecary style brown bottle.
Rihanna is no stranger to product diversification, having already branched into the skin care market with Fenty Skin.
Hitting shelves in the summer of 2020, the new skin care arm marketed itself as an affordable, fuss-free range with eco-friendly refillable packaging.
A massive success for the company, just days after its introduction skus were being resold 600% above the retail price, reaching upwards of US$300.
On eBay, some auctioneers were asking for upwards of $500 for the long-awaited products, compared with just $75 for the brand’s cleanser, toner and SPF moisturiser via its website.
It’s no surprise then that the 33-year-old, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was crowned the wealthiest celebrity beauty brand this year by Cosmetify, beating out Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company with a net worth of £411.5m.
