Oxford Instruments introduces new and improved MQC

Published: 27-Jul-2010

Oxford Instruments America’s Magnetic Resonance Group has released a second generation MQC nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyser. New additions to the MQC, which can be used to measure the oil content of ingredients such as seeds and waxes, as well as checking the quality of finished personal care products, include a 17-inch LCD flat screen monitor; a liquid variable temperature probe option, which allows the operator to run experiments at higher or lower temperatures; and a plug added to the bottom of the probe to keep the magnet clean in the event of spillages.

The magnet is said to be smaller than those in any comparable instrument, but with high field strength for maximum sensitivity. It is also available in several operating frequencies from 2-23 megahertz.

The MQC’s magnet, computer and electronics are now contained in two separate housings, making it possible to place the electronics under the bench, on a shelf, or wherever is most convenient to maximise benchtop space.

Oxford Instrument’s MQC line is available in a number of models with probes ranging from 5-60mm in diameter.
