bareMinerals has announced the launch of the new Complexion Rescue Defense Radiant Tint Protective Moisturizer (£35).

The moisturiser is said to help combat the blue light consumers are increasingly exposing their skin to as a result of the use of digital devices such as smartphones and computers, as well as provide SPF and pollution protection.

Talking about the launch, Laura Garrett, Vice President Global Product Development, bareMinerals, told Cosmetics Business that the product took two years to develop.

She said: “In the spectrum of visible light, the high energy visible light is produced by a band of wavelengths form 400-450nm.

“Scientific research has shown that blue light generates oxidative stress at 410 and 420nm, but this is still an inconclusive topic in the scientific community.

“As a complexion leader, we believe that treating and protecting the skin is the key to the perfect complexion.

“Even though the effects of blue-light continue to be investigated, we did not want to wait on addressing how to help protect consumers from this.

It’s shown to be damaging to the skin so we had to move fast.”

A key ingredient in the product is sustainably-sourced cacao from Peru, which Garrett said has been shown to help protect skin against the damaging effects of blue light.

Complexion Rescue Defense Radiant Tint Protective Moisturizer will launch on 12 July via bareMinerals boutiques and bareminerals.co.uk.
