Brussels-based science company The Solvay Group has inked a deal to sell its North American and European amphoteric surfactants business to OpenGate Capital, a Los Angeles private equity firm.
The sale includes the three main production sites supporting Solvay’s amphoteric product lines – University Park, Illinois (US), Genthin, Germany and Halifax, UK – as well as a tolling business in Turkey.
The sale, said Solvay, would generate additional resources for it to invest in strategic growth segments as part of its portfolio simplification journey.
