BRB International (BRB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), today officially opened a new blending facility in the vicinity of PCG’s petrochemical complex in Gebeng, Kuantan, Malaysia.

This state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility that entered into commercial operations early this month, will serve BRB’s ambition of strengthening its offering in three product portfolios namely silicone gum blend, silicone antifoam and silicone emulsion for the Asia Pacific and Middle East Africa regions.

“With an annual capacity of 8,000 mt and its strategic location at the centre of Southeast Asia, this multipurpose plant will strengthen BRB’s presence and further boost our position as one of the key silicone manufacturers in the APAC and MEA regions,” said Ralph Pinckaers, CEO of BRB International B.V.

“We are delighted that within two years since BRB became a part of the PCG family, we are able to merge our aspirations and work towards expansion and growth. With the new plant and product range, we will continue to grow our specialty portfolio and gradually expand our product offerings to our customers,” added Datuk Sazali Hamzah, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PCG.

This new blending plant can manufacture cosmetic grade silicone gum blend, silicone EMPOL emulsion and amino-silicone emulsion by employing the latest blending and emulsification technologies.

This plant is also designed to produce food grade silicone antifoam and silicone emulsion, apart from technical grade silicone antifoam and silicone emulsion for general industrial application.

This new facility will be certified with ISO 22000, HACCP, MeSTI, Halal and Kosher certificates.
