Pure Beauty talks to Alexandra Andries, Clinique Counter Manager at de Gruchy, Jersey and Heather Maclean, Urban Decay Counter Manager at House of Fraser, Norwich, about working in beauty retail and what customers want in 2017 and beyond.

Q: What do you love most about your job?

AA: I can make people happy, which I love, and when my regular customers pop in just to wish me a good day, it makes it all worth it. I also love having the chance to try all of the amazing new products first.
HM:I love that I have the opportunity to make someone's day, every day. We often come into contact with customers who are struggling in one way or another and I love having the opportunity to help.

Q: What are the biggest challenges you face on the shop floor?

AA: I think the biggest challenge is trying to meet every customer’s expectations in the time they have available, but when things go according to plan, this can also be the biggest satisfaction.
