The trend for water-based fragrance hit a milestone in 2022 with the launch of Dior J’adore Parfum D’eau – and packaging makers have taken note
Running from 25-26 January at the French capital’s Porte de Versailles expo centre, Paris Packaging Week brought together several established shows under one roof.
These were the PCD perfume and cosmetics event; ADF aerosols packaging and dispensing event; Packaging Première for luxury packaging; and drinks trade show PLD.
The following are highlights from the PCD section of the expo.
Aptar displayed solutions for alcohol-free fragrance formulations
The launch of LVMH’s Dior J’adore Parfum D’eau last summer was a signal that alcohol-free fragrance had moved from niche to mainstream.
In keeping with this, Paris Packaging Week exhibitor Aptar demonstrated the ways in which brands opting for water-based scents could ensure consumers get the optimal experience.
Water-based fragrances lack the immediate evaporation of their more traditional cousins and, without careful packaging selection, can result in a ‘wet’ feel.
