From adhesive labels to brush applicators, the beauty packaging industry is quite literally held together with glue.

But the sticky stuff has become the latest component to come under scrutiny for its environmental impact.

As Rosemarie Downey, Industry Manager, Packaging Research at data analytics firm Euromonitor International, notes: “Some adhesives can release harmful chemicals [and] removing glue can improve the safety of the packaging, particularly for products intended for children or sensitive uses, as well as improve pack sustainability.”
