The X-Men star broke barriers by becoming the first African American woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2001

Finishing Touch Flawless, the Church & Dwight-owned beauty brand, has signed Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry as the face of its beauty tools.

After rising to fame in the 1980s as a beauty pageant star – coming sixth in Miss World 1986 – Berry landed her breakout film role starring alongside Eddie Murphy in romantic comedy Boomerang, before going on to star in superhero franchise X-Men and James Bond spy thriller Die Another Day in the 2000s.

In 2001, she made history by winning the Academy Award for Best for her role in romantic drama Monster's Ball, becoming the first – and, to date, only – woman of colour to do so.

Now, the 54-year-old will star in a multi-media campaign promoting Flawless' skin care and hair removal devices across television, print and social media.

Commenting on Berry's appointment, Andy Khubani, CEO and founder of Finishing Touch Flawless, said: "Ms Berry truly embodies the Flawless brand and mission.

"We are so impressed with her philanthropic and brand work beyond the big screen [and] we are very proud and excited to have her partner with and represent our team."

In addition to her starring roles, Berry is an advocate for victims of domestic violence and women's issues; in 2013, she took part in luxury fashion and beauty brand Gucci's Chime for Change campaign to raise funds and awareness for women's health, education and justice.

Meanwhile, she is also a global brand ambassador for Revlon, starring in campaigns alongside fellow actress and ambassador Olivia Wilde.

Founded in 2017, Finishing Touch Flawless offers a range of beauty devices designed to bring customers a spa or salon experience at home, including its Next Generation facial hair remover and eyebrow shaper.
