Eight beauty ingredients selected by industry experts in association with SPC Asia


in-cosmetics Asia has unveiled the finalists of its 2012 Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award, which honours the development of a novel active or functional ingredient that combines especially innovative science and product features.

The eight finalists include Gattefosse, whose Gatuline Radiance is an anti-ageing active for a flawless skin tone; Delisens from Lipotec, which helps restore damaged barrier function and provides a photoprotective effect preventing further inflammation of sensitive skin; Body3 Complex from Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, an ingredient combining triple action on cellulite, firmness and stretch marks; and Mibelle Biochemistry’s DermCom, which stimulates cell to cell communication facilitating skin matrix repair.

Liftonin-Xpress, the entry from Rahn is an instant wrinkle minimiser said to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by 74% in an hour, while Rhodia Asia Pacific’s Miracare SLB Series provides fragrance enhancement.

Also shortlisted are Sensient Cosmetic Technologies’ Natpure O’Gel V, a natural transparent oil thickener from renewable resources and Vederine from Silab, which offers the restructuring benefits of a natural vitamin D like active ingredient.

All entries for this year’s award have been judged by a panel of industry experts including Dr Aran Puri (Cosmeceutical Solutions), Dr Panvipa Krisdaphong, president of the IFSCC 2011-12 and president of the SCCT, Jack Ferguson (Skinnovation), Judi Beerling (Organic Monitor), cosmetics industry consultant Karl Lintner and Alain Khaiat (Seers Consulting), in association with SPC Asia.

It’s crucial that we encourage and recognise the work that both formulators and R&D specialists put in when coming up with novel ingredients.”

in-cosmetics Asia takes place from 6-8 November 2012 at BITEC, Bangkok, Thailand and the winners will be announced on Wednesday 7 November from 6.30pm in the Innovation Zone.
