Haeckels is undergoing a rebrand to shake off its association with scientist Ernst Haeckel.

While Haeckel made contributions towards the fields of biology and ecology, he was said to be an early advocate of eugenics and promoted racist scientific ideologies.

The skin care and fragrance brand will operate without a formal name over the next 12 months and is currently referring to itself as ‘Formerly Known As Haeckels’ or FKAH.

The name Haeckels has also been removed from all of the company’s packaging.
