Groupe GM Cosmética Portugal has reinforced its commitment to sustainability and responsible innovation through a series of environmental and quality certifications achieved in 2025

These milestones confirm the company’s dedication to transparent, ethical, and high-performing manufacturing practices, reinforcing its position as a European benchmark in melt & pour and solid cosmetics.

“We are proud to see our sustainability strategy recognised through EcoVadis,” says Maria Lobo Maia, General Manager of Groupe GM Cosmética Portugal.

“It’s a reflection of the work our teams have done to embed environmental, social, and governance principles across every part of the business – from sourcing to production.”

Certified excellence and continuous improvement Over the past year, Groupe GM Cosmética Portugal successfully renewed its certifications under ISO 22716 (Good Manufacturing Practices), ISO 9001 (Quality Management), and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), following rigorous external assessments.”

Its EcoVadis rating – one of the world’s most trusted sustainability assessment systems – highlights Groupe GM Cosmética Portugal’s strengths in environmental management, labour practices, and sustainable procurement.

This recognition places the company among the leading manufacturers in the European cosmetics industry committed to ethical and sustainable growth. SMETA, powered by Sedex, is the world’s most widely used social audit: it is designed to help protect workers from unsafe conditions, overwork, discrimination, low pay, and forced labour. Groupe GM was verified with praise, later this year, through a 4-pillar audit that includes Labour standards, Health and safety, Environment and Business ethics.

Sustainability as a business driver

From its manufacturing site in Portugal, Groupe GM Cosmética Portugal continues to invest in renewable energy, waste reduction, and carbon footprint minimization. The company’s facilities operate with a 100% renewable energy supply, and ongoing initiatives focus on water conservation and eco-design packaging solutions.

“Our ISO certifications, EcoVadis rating and SMETA validation are not the finish line – they are milestones in a continuous journey,” adds Maria Lobo Maia. “We see sustainability as a driver of innovation and competitiveness. It’s how we build long-term trust with our clients and contribute to a responsible future for the beauty industry.”
