Dior has appointed BTS member Jimin as its new global brand ambassador.
The South Korean singer will lend his image to creations by Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Dior’s men’s collections.
Jimin (née Park Ji-min) was pictured wearing Dior's new Summer 2023 collection.
It comes as Dior seeks to expand its presence in the South Korean market.
The luxury fashion house previously partnered with K-pop star Jisoo, of Blackpink fame, who is also serving as brand ambassador.
In 2022, BTS’ seven core members revealed they were temporarily breaking up the band to complete Korea's mandatory military service.
The news came as a shock to the group’s immense fanbase, who refer to themselves as the ‘Army’.
It is unclear how the decision will affect Dior’s partnership with Jimin.
The announcement comes a week after LVMH appointed Bernard Arnault’s daughter Delphine as Christian Dior’s new CEO.
Delphine previously worked as Executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton, and was in charge of supervising all of the fashion label’s product-related activities.
The appointment has tightened Arnault’s grip on his luxury fashion and beauty empire.
His sons, Antoine, Alexandre and Frédéric, have all received executive roles within the company.
