Interest in this trending category is driving demand for pharmaceutical-inspired packaging, and droppers’ precision and hygiene fit the bill

Droppers have long been a popular choice for the application of liquid cosmetic formulations, but recently the industry has enjoyed a surge in innovation in this space.

“The use of cosmetic droppers by many brands has grown consistently over recent years,” Simon Dix, Managing Director of Vetroplas Packaging, tells Cosmetics Business.

“This is largely due to the desire on behalf of consumers for treatment or spa-like products.”

“Droppers are ideal for beauty products where precision, hygiene and minimal waste are important, especially when dealing with concentrated or expensive formulas,” adds Rosemarie Downey, Head of Packaging Research at Euromonitor International.

“The uptick in dermatological beauty, with its focus on scientifically-backed, high-performance skin care, has led to an increasing shift toward pharmaceuticalstyle packaging.

“Pharmaceutical packaging often prioritises precision, control and hygiene, qualities that droppers inherently offer.”
