CPL Aromas, the British fragrance house, has opened what it described as its most sustainable factory to date in Malaysia.
Located in the industrial Selangor Halal Hub in the country’s Pulau Indah region, the 20,000sqm space is said to offer a more streamlined and efficient production process, according to the company.
CPL Aromas said it has made “substantial investments [to] benefit people, production and the planet” with its latest factory opening.
The factory has been designed to minimise the company’s environmental impact and reduce carbon footprint, using technology including solar panels and cold-storage insulated walls and ceilings.
Rainwater harvesting systems, LED lighting, energy-saving heat pumps have also been used throughout the space.
It also utilises an automated warehousing system, which CPL Aromas said enables more efficient and convenient importation of raw materials and exportation of products to regional markets.
All the ingredients used and finished products produced in the factory will be halal compliant, allowing the company to cater to both the local Malaysian market and other ASEAN countries.
The factory will also offer job opportunities in the region, with CPL Aromas estimating a workforce of around 50 people.
The opening comes after the company acquired Spanish company Global Fragrances Labs (GFL) in July, further expanding its international capabilities.
It also expanded into the Brazilian market last year when it acquired perfume manufacturer Chemarome’s Brazil business.
Today, CPL Aromas has 22 sites around the world, employing more than 750 people across 20 countries.
