Beiersdorf has reported record-high sales for the 2024 financial year, driven by a boom in skin care demand.
The brand owner saw sales increase by 6.5% to €9.9bn, with Nivea being the standout performer.
Sales at the historic German skin care brand increased 9% globally in 2024 reaching €5.6bn.
Beiersdorf attributed this to the business’ “strong growth” across all major regions, increased volumes and successful pricing strategies.
Nivea’s Luminous630 range also bolstered the brand's sales with 34% organic growth.
“For the second consecutive year, Beiersdorf is the best-performing skin care company globally,” said Vincent Warnery, CEO of Beiersdorf.
“We continued our exceptional development of the past years in 2024 and achieved another sales record even in a challenging market environment.”
La Prairie experienced a more subdued performance last year due to difficult “macroeconomic conditions in China”.
The luxury skin care brand recorded a decline in sales of 6.2%, but Beiersdorf said this was significantly slower than the previous year when sales slumped 15.4%.
Botanical skin care, make-up and fragrance brand Chantecaille was able to buck the challenges of the Asian market, however.
It reported organic sales growth of 4.5%, driven by a successful expansion in Asia and the launch into mainland China.
With the overall stronger performance, Beiersdorf expects to achieve “above-market” growth in 2025, with expected sales of 4% to 6% in its Consumer Business Segment.
“Our strong 2024 results are another milestone for us on our way to becoming the best skin care company in the world,” added Warnery.
“Beiersdorf is fully on track to generate further growth together with our exceptional international teams.
“We are focusing on our strong brands, delivering breakthrough innovations and expanding into new markets, categories, and channels.
“With the group guidance for 2025, we believe we will outperform the market again this year.”
