Cosmetics aficionados thinking of increasing their salary could look to beauty YouTubing as a potential profession.
According to research by creative community hub DIYS.com, the video sharing platform is proving a lucrative business, with beauty content creators earning up to £600,000 on average every year.
Findings show that one billion hours of content is watched daily via the site, and big names in the beauty sector are getting in on the action.
Creative Director for Byredo and MUA Isamaya Ffrench recently introduced her own YouTube channel, while Hailey Bieber, whose beauty brand has been on the verge of a launch for over a year, welcomed fans into her life with intimate videos and content four months ago.
Social media royalty and beauty entrepreneur Huda Kattan also began her journey in cosmetics via YouTube alongside her beauty-related blog more than ten years ago.
Today, she is still a prolific figure on YouTube with more than four million subscribers, as well as a powerful presence on other social media sites.
Meanwhile, MUAs, including the likes of James Charles and Jeffree Star, use the platform to connect with their mass audiences and talk about product launches.
However, beauty was only the third highest paid YouTube sector among professions surveyed.
Gamers creating content can expect to be paid £6.8m on average annually, around £600,000 a month, the highest earning YouTube creators, followed by food YouTubers, who are estimated to earn some £650,000 every year.
To calculate the numbers, DIYS.com analysed influencers’ subscribers in each industry and data from analytics tool SocialBlade was used to establish the industries’ highest paid salaries.
