OneSkin, a longevity-led skin care brand, has closed a series A investment round, bringing total brand funding to US$20m.
Founded by four Brazilian scientists in 2016, OneSkin products contain OS-01 – a peptide that prevents the accumulation of senescent cells.
The oversubscribed round was led by Selva Ventures, alongside Unilever Ventures, Plus Capital and Able Partners, as well as former investors SOSV and Meta Planet.
Additional investors include Brazilian-American model and designer Camila Alves McConaughey, the spouse of Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey – from Plus Capital’s collective of artist and athlete partners – and tech entrepreneur Kevin Rose.
OneSkin said resources from funding will be put towards accelerated research and novel formulas to deliver expanded longevity solutions.
The funding will also power an increase in human capital focused on growth opportunities and new sales channels for the business, added the brand.
“As a Brazilian woman, I am thrilled to invest in a brand founded by four Brazilian female scientists,” said Alves McConaughey.
“My heritage is something I am incredibly proud of, and I am honoured to support those who are executing this work.”
OneSkin’s co-founder and CEO Carolina Oliveira (pictured, second from left) said of the investment: “At OneSkin, we are excited to announce this new round of funding, which will further drive our mission to transform how we think about our skin.
“Not only by optimising our aesthetics using cutting-edge science, but also focusing on its functional role as our largest organ and the impact on our overall health and longevity."
Dr Alessandra Zonari, the brand’s co-founder and CSO (pictured, third from left), added: “This investment will allow us to deepen our commitment to be the best-in-class in delivering efficacious peptides to modulate ageing at the cellular level.”
Madeline Kaplan, Partner at Selva Ventures, said OneSkin was “well-positioned at the intersection of beauty and wellness”.
