The beauty industry has been left with a sour taste in its mouth following the UK government’s proposed ‘seat out to help out’ initiative, which aims to help theatres recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to The Sunday Times, the Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden, together with the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, ordered officials to “move at extreme pace” to encourage crowds back into theatres.
The campaign follows the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme, which provided support for the hospitality sector, and an emergency fund for music venues on the brink of collapse.
The beauty sector has been subject to u-turns over the easing of restrictions, with faces referred to as ‘danger zones’ in relation to facial treatments, called out by some in the industry as an attempt to scaremonger.
