Brand commits to planting and protecting trees

The Body Shop is set to launch a new initiative, Wood Positive, on 22 April, which aims to increase the number of trees in the world.

Coinciding with Earth Day, the initiative will mark an ongoing commitment to plant and protect more trees than The Body Shop uses in its supply chain. The initiative targets biodiversity hotspots across the world and native tree species have been selected specifically for their positive impact on local biodiversity.

As part of the initiative, habitats are also protected from logging to preserve land for future generations. Consumers will be able to identify Wood Positive products by the logo on The Body Shop products, which use paper-based packaging throughout the year.

Paul McGreevy, director of values and R&D, said: “At The Body Shop, Protect The Planet is one of our core values. We always strive to be as earth friendly as possible but we know there is always more we can do. For us, reducing our negative impact isn’t good enough; we want to improve our positive impact. Wood Positive is just one way we can achieve this.”
