Davis Factor, the co-founder of make-up brand Smashbox, has released his debut photography book, showcasing his portraits of A-list celebrities and sharing his brand’s story.
Titled Make S#!+ Happen, the book is said to be a “snapshot of Hollywood glamour” and features more than 200 portraits of celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Samuel L Jackson, Robert Downey Jr and Angelina Jolie, spanning more than three decades.
Featuring a foreword by Estee Lauder Companies heir Leonard Lauder, as well as an interview with Iron Man star Downey Jr, the book also tells the story of Smashbox Cosmetics, which Factor founded alongside his brother Dean Factor in 1996.
The great-grandsons of iconic make-up artist Max Factor, the brothers launched Smashbox Cosmetics out of their Los Angeles-based Smashbox Studios space, with the brand’s products tested by the photographers and make-up artists that frequented the studio.
Despite enjoying success with its bestsellers including Photo Finish Foundation Primer and Halo Fresh Perfecting Powder, the ELC-owned brand recently withdrew from the UK market after 24 years, citing difficulties such as challenges in key subcategories and changes in the brand’s retail spaces.
Make S#!+ Happen will be available from next month.
