First food, then cleaning products. Is beauty next? In retaliation for Western sanctions over concern for Ukraine, Russian authorities have clamped down on a range of Western consumer goods, from food to cleaning products, and have started clearing them from shelves, according to Silk Road Reporters.
Products from Western multinationals have already been seized including those manufactured by P&G, Henkel and Colgate-Palmolive. Currently the Russian authorities are claiming some overseas company products are being banned for safety reasons. The British Chamber of Commerce told Cosmetics Business it was not aware of any issues for UK beauty suppliers yet. Unilever and The Russian perfumery and Cosmetics Association did not respond to Cosmetics Business enquiries.
