Incoming CEO Lauren Brindley joins from Walgreens, where she worked as Group VP for Beauty & Personal Care

Revolution Beauty has appointed Lauren Brindley as its new Group CEO.

Brindley officially joins on 18 September 2023 and will replace Bob Holt, who is standing down as CEO and leaving the business today (31 August).

In her role, Brindley will be accountable for leading the beauty brand globally and overseeing its strategic growth.

Chair Alistair McGeorge will also move to the role of Non-Executive Chairman upon Brindley's appointment.

"We are pleased that Lauren will be joining Revolution Beauty at such a critical and exciting time for the Group,” said McGeorge.

“Lauren's extensive knowledge of the beauty and retail industries, and proven track record of driving meaningful results, will be critical as we build Revolution Beauty into a global beauty leader.”

Brindley was most recently the Group VP for Beauty & Personal Care at Walgreens, where she managed the American retailer's beauty and personal care strategy.

Prior to Walgreens, she worked for Boots UK and Boots Retail International as Head of Prestige Beauty & Fragrance.

She was also Head of its No.7 Beauty Brand & Mass Beauty categories.

“Revolution Beauty is recognised as one of the fastest product innovators in the sector and the brand has already proven it has global potential,” added Brindley.

“I am excited to join the Revolution Beauty team and bring this amazing brand and our innovative products to consumers across the globe."

Alongside incoming CEO Brindley, Colin Henry and Chris Fry have also been appointed as Independent Non-Executive Directors of Revolution Beauty.

They will replace Jeremy Schwartz, Rachel Maguire and Matthew Eatough, who have stated they are not standing for re-election at the business’ upcoming AGM.

"Colin and Chris both bring with them highly relevant experience that will benefit the Group and its future. I am very pleased to welcome them to the board,” said McGeorge.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jeremy, Matthew and Rachel for their contribution to the business."

Brindley's appointment comes after a tumultuous year for Revolution Beauty.

A damning investigation into management failures at the company and lagging sales have plagued the beauty retailer for the past 12 months.

The situation escalated further after etailer Boohoo declared it was staging a coup against the beauty brand in June 2023. .

Boohoo claimed board members did not hold the “right retail, e-commerce and consumer brands experience” to deliver shareholder value and planned to oust the leadership team.

Revolution Beauty hit back at Boohoo’s takeover attempt, however, calling it “value-destructive, opportunistic and self-serving”.

This all came to a head during a wildly chaotic AGM in June 2023 which saw the firing of Holt, as well as chair Derek Zissman and CFO Elizabeth Lake.

Jeremy Schwartz, the remaining board member and director, chose to immediately reinstate the trio during the meeting.

A sudden turn of events came in July 2023 when Revolution allowed Boohoo to take over its board, ending the month-long public spat with the retailer.
