Prada’s latest scent, Luna Rossa Extreme, is inspired by the fashion house’s own yacht.
Produced under licence to Puig, the new scent is a more intense interpretation of the brand’s original Luna Rossa, which was released last year and named after the fashion house's own yacht, Prada Luna Rossa. The brand’s Luna Rossa team was created in 1997, and today consists of 80 members who work together to win sailing's most exclusive prize, The America’s Cup.
Luna Rosa Extreme was created by perfumer Daniela Andrier, who also composed the original, and is described as a “spicy fresh” scent that has both “dark and sensual” qualities. It opens on Italian bergamot and black pepper and features a heart of leathery balsamic labdanum and juniper berries. At the base, the scent blends intense lavender absolute and vanilla. Meanwhile, the opaque black flacon was designed by Swiss designer, entrepreneur, and sustainability advocate Yves Behar, who sought to capture the “mystery and intensity of the ocean”. The fragrance launches in September priced from £50.
