Olvea Vegetable Oils has added new Shea esters to its range of ingredients for make-up, skin and hair care formulations.
Developed using Olvea's own Shea butter supply chain in Burkina Faso, the range includes three new lines. Olvea Silky Shea is a lightweight alternative to conventional Shea butter for the hair and skin care applications. Another new addition to the line is Olvea Creamy Shea – a co-emulsifier that gives a cocoon-like texture to cosmetic products, reducing the roughness caused by surfactants in body washes and soaps and improving the overall texture and appearance of skin and hair. The range also includes Olvea Glossy Shea, an effective moisturiser that adds shine to make-up, skin and hair care formulations and a soft finish to hair and skin.
Easy to formulate, the Olvea Shea esters are designed to be introduced at the fat phase of an emulsion. They are suitable for use in anhydrous formulas and emulsions and are said to be suitable for all skin types.
Olvea's local Shea butter production unit in Burkina Faso has been in operation since 2008, developing a sustainable supply-chain and developing long-term relationships with women's cooperatives in the area.
