Reckitt Benckiser enjoys ‘excellent’ growth

Household and personal goods manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser has announced ‘excellent’ results for 2008 but has warned of a slow down in sales for 2009.


Household and personal goods manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser has announced ‘excellent’ results for 2008 but has warned of a slow down in sales for 2009.

According to the company, net sales jumped 10% on the previous year, with strong growth recorded across its brand portfolio. Full year pre-tax profits were recorded at £1.47bn, compared to £1.21bn the previous year. Fourth quarter pre- tax earnings were particularly strong, rising from £381m in 2007 to £520m in 2008.

Reckitt Benckiser ceo Bart Becht commented: “Reckitt Benckiser has had an excellent year in 2008 despite challenging conditions.”

However the manufacturer has warned that profits for 2009 will reflect the current economic situation and it has predicted growth will only reach 4%.
