Shin-Etsu unveils pure alternative to D5 siloxanes

Published: 25-Aug-2010

Shin-Etsu has introduced a new addition to its line of substitutes for D5 siloxanes and D5 derivative materials, DM-Fluid-2cs (or DMF-2). Developed by Shin-Etsu Silicones of America (a subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co Ltd, Japan), DMF-2 is a high purity, low residual carbon dimethicone fluid with low viscosity and a near-zero skin irritation rating. It is said to deliver an enhanced sensory solution for applications as diverse as colour cosmetics, skin care, hair care and sunscreens.

In addition, the fluid can be used as a non-reactive delivery agent that rubs in easily and will flash off the skin over time leaving a comfortable silky skin feel. The DMF-2 diluent system may be used to provide an alternative D5 delivery system for Shin-Etsu’s range of emulsifiers, elastomer products, film formers and dispersions of UV filters.
