Awards recognise products that have elevated China’s C&T industry

China’s Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) show – which runs from 22-24 February at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center – witnessed record first day footfall yesterday. A total of 2,298 visitors attended the opening day of 2011’s event, which also boasts the largest number of exhibitors in the show’s four-year history. Organiser Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE) says it expects PCHi to attract approximately 5,600 visitors over three days.

A total of 245 companies from 20 countries, including 129 companies within China, participated as exhibitors. “The show has grown steadily since it started in 2008. We are very pleased to have 25% more exhibitors this year. This is an indicator of the industry’s confidence in the event’s ability to produce the right results,” comments PCHi project director Daniel Chan.

New for 2011 were two conference topics – The Macho Side of Personal Care and Earth Friendly Formulations – and Casa Elegancia, a hospitality zone for manufacturers of personal and home care in China.

There were also two awards ceremonies on the opening day: the Booth Awards and the inaugural China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Awards. In the Booth Awards Bayer Material Science was recognised in the category of best communications and DSM Nutritional Products Asia Pacific took the prize for buzziest booth, while the most inviting shell scheme booth went to Ichimaru Pharcos. The most inventive Chinese newcomer was awarded to Zhejiang Hangzhou Xinfu Pharmaceutical.

Meanwhile the China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Awards provided recognition for products launched between 2007 and 2010 that have significantly enhanced China’s personal and home care industries. Evonik Degussa (China), ARCH Chemicals (China) and Guangzhou Honsea Sunshine Bio Science & Technology were recognised in the anti-ageing ingredients category; Symrise Shanghai and Spec-Chem Industry in the skin conditioners category; Shanghai OI Enterprises, Sethic International and Cosmetochem International in the skin lighteners category; Axialys Innovations and Evonik Degussa in the delivery technology category; Bayer MaterialScience (China) and Merck Chemicals (Shanghai) took the award for sunscreens; and finally Guangzhou Tinci Materials Technology, Dow Home & Personal Care, Dow Corning, Wuxi Hock Chemie Technology and Wacker Chemical (China) were presented with the award for polymers.

PCHi’s 2012 show will be held in Shanghai at the World Expo Theme Pavilion from 27-29 February.
