Italian SMEs hit back at EU ban on microplastics

Italian cosmetics SMEs are concerned about the EU’s ban on intentionally added microplastics, saying that the research and development costs could put them out of business.

Italy is the fourth-largest cosmetics producer in Europe and makes 65% of all makeup in the market, but the majority of its producers are SMEs, many in companies with less than 10 members of staff.
