Independent beauty retailers are set to lead growth on the UK high street in the next five years, according to research by Global Data and American Express.

The number of independent beauty businesses is set to rise by 7,852 by 2023, the highest level of any business sector on the high street.

Growth is said to be driven by consumer demand following a rise in the amount shoppers are willing to spend on their appearance.
