The German consumer goods group acquired Coppertone in 2019

Beiersdorf, the maker of Nivea and La Prairie, said it was “cautiously optimistic” about 2020, despite the consumer goods group predicting a difficult year ahead.

The German company saw full-year sales growth of 4.1% in 2019, down from 4.3% compared to the first three quarters.

Beiersdorf’s Consumer Business Segment – which includes Nivea, Eucerin, Aquaphor and La Prairie – grew by 4.8% to €7.65bn.

The increase was credited to success in all geographic regions and acknowledgement was made to Beiersdorf’s new acquisition tanning brand Coppertone.

“Even though we expect headwinds in the 2020 financial year, we see good potential and opportunities which we will fully leverage with further investments,” said Stefan De Loecker, CEO of Beiersdorf .

“We are on the right track and are looking forward to the fiscal year ahead with cautious optimism.”
