The tech giant’s Year in Search report has landed, which rounds up the trending searches that people in the US have been looking up in 2024, from pop culture highlights and beauty trends to tragic news.
The top trending searches mentioned have experienced a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2024 compared to 2023, explained Google.

The ‘mob wife aesthetic’ rules the roost
The ‘mob wife aesthetic’ took the top spot in Google’s list of the trending ‘aesthetic’ searches this year.
The look, inspired by the style of the wife of a mob boss, is characterised by big hair, red lips, wearing leather and fur coats, and sporting gold jewellery.
“Quiet luxury and ‘clean’ girl make-up have been popular for a few seasons now and the mob wife aesthetic is the antithesis of those trends,” Jenny Lee, Lead Analyst, Google Trends, told Cosmetics Business.
