Master Perfumer Olivier Pescheux has passed away aged 57, following a long period of illness.
He was known for his “elegant” and “luminous” scents, according to fragrance house Givaudan, for whom Pescheux worked on-and-off since 1998.
Pescheux was the nose behind fragrances such as Eau Mohéli by Diptyque, Herod by Parfums de Marly and Explorer by Montblanc.
Having graduated from French perfumery and cosmetics school ISIPCA, Pescheux joined manufacturer Payan Bertrand in 1990.
He transitioned to Kao Corporation in 1993, after a stint at perfume house Annick Goutal in Paris.
Pescheux was a long time employee of Givaudan's, joining the company in 1998 and returning in 2006 after a short period at Quest International.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Olivier Pescheux,” said Givaudan’s CEO Gilles Andrier.
“He has not only been the architect of many of the most beautiful and iconic fragrances of the industry, but also an adored person, dedicated to his art and committed to mentor the upcoming generation of perfumers.”
