Earnings per share for second quarter increase by 22% to $0.61

Limited Brands, the parent company of Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works, has seen its net sales grow by 5% to total $2.516bn in the second quarter of 2013, compared with sales of $2.399bn in the same period in 2012.

Earnings per share for the second quarter increased by 22% to $0.61 compared with an adjusted earnings per share of $0.50 in Q2 2012. Operating income in the quarter totalled $357.8m, up on an adjusted $308.9m last year, while net income grew to $178.9m, compared with an adjusted $147.2m. The company also reported a comparable store sales increase of 2% in the quarter, however, it notes that in 2012, a pre-tax charge of $3.6m, or $0.01 per share, related to La Senza store closures.
