Kao Corporation has strengthened its presence in Asia with the launch of its prestige debut Sensai store in Indonesia.
The Japanese beauty brand owner’s first counter will open at the Sogo Plaza Senayan department store in Jakarta on 21 February 2025.
Senayan is an area known for its luxury hotels and high-end shopping.
Kao said the space will offer customers an “immersive luxury skin care experience and exceptional service”.
“Indonesia has a strong affinity for Japanese skin care culture, which includes a well-known practice of double cleansing, double moisturizing, and UV protection,” said Sensai brand manager Yoshiko Sakurai.
“This aligns perfectly with Sensai’s skin care ritual, Saho.
“We believe that introducing Sensai in Indonesia will help to expand our fanbase among affluent consumers across Asia.”
The move forms part of Sensai’s global expansion plans and follows the opening of Kao’s Molton Brown debut store in Indonesia in December 2024.
The store opened on 22 December 2024 at Ciputra World Surabaya, a shopping destination in the country's second-largest city in East Java.
“The launch represents another milestone in Kao's Global Sharp Top Strategy, which focuses on establishing leadership in premium market segments through high-value offerings,” Kao Corporation said in a statement at the time.
The store features a ‘Fragrance Playground’ which uses augmented reality (AR) technology to animate fragrance ingredients and educate visitors.
The space also implements Molton Brown’s recent ‘Artists of Note’ campaign, a collaboration that highlights its identity as a fragrance-first brand.
This campaign was expanded in February 2025, with British shoe designer Ancuta Sarca being the latest artist to front the British company.
It also coincided with the launch of Molton Brown's new Bluebell & Wild Strawberry perfume on 19 February.
The floral-fruity fragrance combines a heart of bluebell with top notes of wild strawberry and sets this against a base of warm amber accord and soft driftwood.
