It is expected to protect Hyaluronic Acid (HA) from breakdown by inhibiting HYBID, a HA degradation enzyme, increases the moisture content of the skin and reduces wrinkles and skin sagging. This product uses Artemisia capillaris from Japan.
Loss of hyaluronic acid (HA) cause wrinkle and sagging
HA is an important component of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Many people will imagine the following properties of HA: moisture, softness and viscosity. But how about the relationship with the strength of the ECM structure? Past reports show that a low amount of HA is correlated with large sagging and deep wrinkle. Moreover, the amount of HA decreases with ageing.
HYBID, the novel mechanism of dermal HA degradation
In the epidermis, HA was known to be cleaved by HYAL1/2. In the dermis, on the other hand, HYBID (HYaluronan-Binding protein Involved in hyaluronan Depolymerization) is recently identified as a major HA cleavage enzyme. Natural aging and extrinsic stimuli like UV and histamine promote the expression of HYBID. This is a major cause of dermal sagging and wrinkles.
Maintaining intact HA for youthful skin
ICHIMARU PHARCOS searched for a material that inhibits the expression of HYBID in fibroblasts and found that an extract of Artemisia capillaris flowers had this effect, and launched the natural cosmetic ingredient “HyaluGuard”. HyaluGuard inhibits the degradation of HA in fibroblasts and works to reduce skin sagging and wrinkle.
HyaluGuard uses Japanese Artemisia capillaris. This product is manufactured using 1,3-Butylene Glycol which is obtained from Sugarcane.
