Huda Beauty has settled a class action lawsuit, after US consumers claimed that its Neon Obsessions Pressed Pigment Products were ‘unlawfully’ marketed.
The cosmetics brand, which is based in Dubai, was accused of falsely advertising the sku for use in the eye area and failing to disclose material information about the products.
Huda Beauty, which is owned and founded by beauty mogul Huda Kattan, along with her two sisters, denies any wrongdoing and asserts that the products are safe and effective, according to a press statement.
The court is yet to decide if the brand committed foul play, however, the parties have agreed to offer purchasers of Neon Obsessions a full refund of US$29 for each product.
Proof of purchase will need to be provided in order to make a claim.
Customers, meanwhile, can choose to object to the settlement and ask the court to deny approval.
If the court denies the approval, no settlement payouts will be made and the lawsuit may continue to be litigated through the courts.
