It’s not the first time that a food craze has filtered into beauty and personal care, but the sheer virality of pistachio in 2025 has taken the ‘edible beauty’ movement to a whole new level.

Dubai chocolate, the luxury bar with a creamy green pistachio filling, is largely responsible for this year’s pistachio phenomenon after videos on TikTok turned the “it” snack viral, propelling a global trend for the confectionery that has even contributed to an international pistachio shortage.

Beyond chocolate, pistachio has been infiltrating butters and spreads, baked goods and fashion (for its soft, pastel-green hue). It has been embraced in candles, fine fragrance – and now body care.

“Pistachio has been highly influential in 2025, emerging as a cross-industry trend,” says Emily Austin, Senior Marketing Executive at CPL Aromas. “Its popularity in fragrance, driven by pop culture moments such as the huge Dubai chocolate phenomenon and on-trend brands, has created a trickle-down effect, resonating with a broader audience. The move into body care feels like a natural progression, tapping into both pistachio’s sensory appeal and its broader cultural relevance as a symbol of comfort, indulgence, and modern luxury.”

Sophie Liddy, co-founder of Australian fragrance-led body care brand Ciroa adds: “Even before the Dubai chocolate craze, pistachio held a quiet cult status in the fragrance world (think ice cream stands, Italian getaways) but just as a supporting note in fine fragrance. I believe that viral moments like Dubai chocolate simply open the door for these unexpected notes to take centre stage. The viral spotlight accelerated this awareness, but it coincided with the growing popularity toward gourmand sensoriality – we are now experiencing luxury food, indulgent desserts, and personal care as part of the same sensory world.”

Pistachio’s popularity has, as a result, been driving viral brand moments in body care. With more than 1000% growth in searches for ‘pistachio body care’ products over the past year, according to Spate, brands are experiencing significant success with their pistachio skus.
